Jan Medical's founder combines technical expertise and business savvy. Paul Lovoi named his company after his late wife, Jan, who died from a stroke at the age of 55. Now, he has developed a revolutionary portable brain sensing system designed to help doctors in the Emergency Department identify and treat ischemic strokes quickly, and to enable continuous monitoring of Neuro Intensive Care Unit patients particularly susceptible to cerebral vasospasm. Paul has a Ph.D in nuclear physics from the University of New Mexico and an executive MBA from Stanford University. Paul has founded previous companies including InTA Technologies, Candescent Corporation and most recently Xoft, Inc.
Joseph brings 30 plus years of financial and operations experience from public accounting, medical device companies that designed and manufactured both capital equipment and disposable products, and high tech companies, from start-ups to multi-nationals. He has also managed operational improvements and cost reduction and controls in both low volume and high volume repetitive manufacturing environments. Joseph's medical device background includes a senior management position with an early stage start up First Medical, Inc. in addition to high tech corporations, ViVotech, Inc. and Axil Computers, Inc. Joseph earned his BSC from Santa Clara University and holds an active CPA license in California.
Pete brings years of sonar and signal analysis technology and techniques to Jan Medical. Having worked in the submarine service of the U.S. Navy and on the Staffs of the Atlantic and Pacific fleets exposed him to the challenges of acoustic sensor subjective analysis. This, coupled with his instrumentation experience with Spectral Dynamics, Scientific Atlanta, and Smiths Aerospace, as well as InterOcean Systems has prepared him well for adventures into the physical characteristics of brain malady issues. The Jan Medical system provides as he calls it, "a target rich environment similar to passing through the straits of Gibraltar submerged; there is nothing there that doesn't get described with the proper methods of analysis."
